Comprehensive EVenting foundations program

The Comprehensive Eventing Foundations Program, more commonly known as the CEFP, is FRL's Eventing lesson program. They teach riders who are not looking to compete, but still want to learn Eventing. Every rider starts here in order to get a grasp of how FRL's eventing curriculum works. Starting everybody in the CEFP is a great way to get everybody on the same page. We also have the CHFP which is the Comprehensive Hunters Foundations Program. Its an optional program that meets once a week for riders interested in Hunters!

About CEFP

Comprehensive Eveting Foundations Program

The CEFP is for beginner-intermediate Eventing riders. If riders want to advance past that, they must tryout for a show team, or set up weekly private lessons with trainers.

This program was made for riders to learn the foundational skills of eventing, as well as skills that they can use in their everyday life.

About CHFP

Comprehensive Hunters Foundations Program

The CHFP is for beginner-intermediate Hunter riders. If riders want to advance past that, they must tryout for a show team, or set up weekly private lessons with trainers.

This program was made for riders to learn the foundational skills of Hunters, as well as skills that they can use in their everyday life.
The CHFP is a lot lower of a commitment for riders as they only meet once and week and is optional.

Meet the Lesson Horses

Each of the CEFP and CFHP riders will ride one of our lessons horses until they are able to purchase their first horse. Each of these horses have been specially picked to help our lesson students thrive!

Roxie

' OH La Roxienne '

Roxie is a 13 year old, 15.1 hh, Morgan Mare. She has been with the OHEC since she was 9, and is a wonderful all around mare. She does great in both Eventing and Hunters, and has lovely ground manners. She can get a bit energetic during both Show Jumping, and Cross Country, but always remains listening to her rider.

Kali

' OH Kisses In The Dark '

Kali is a 9 year old, 16.2 hh, OTTB Mare. She is quite energetic and can get a bit antsy. She is super fun to ride, but needs a confident rider to hold her together. She is a bit green in Eventing, but has tons of experience in Hunters. While she can seem a bit spooky and on edge, Kali is a loving horse who knows her job.

Rex

' OH Paint Me Famous '

Rex is your traditional gelding. He is an 11 year old, 15.3 hh, paint horse gelding. He has a heart of gold and will try his heart out for his rider. He is quite the character in the pasture, constantly making new friends. He is quite skilled in both the Hunter and Eventing rings. He is perfect for an amateur rider looking to gain confidence, which makes him such an amazing lesson horse.

Oliver

' MBEC Simply Oliver OH '

Oliver is a 15 year old, 14.0 hh, Welsh Pony gelding. He is an easygoing, automatic hunter pony, purchased from Moonlit Bay Equestrian Center with the goal of having a quiet, reliable show pony. He’s calm, uncomplicated, and doesn’t have the typical pony attitude. Somehow, he’s also become friends with the barn chickens, which feels very on brand for him.

River

'KW Where the River Runs OH '

River is a 13 year old, 15.3 hh Paint Horse mare. She is a kind and steady with a natural talent for the hunter ring. She’s quiet, well balanced, and easy to ride, making her a great partner for riders looking for a simple, enjoyable mount. She’s uncomplicated to ride, responsive without being sensitive, and well suited for juniors or amateurs.

Simon

' OH Grey With a GPA '

Simon is a 12 year old, 15.1 hh, Arabian gelding. Named after Simon from Alvin and the Chipmunks, you better believe this is one clever horse. He is a sneaky guy, and a bit of an escape artist. He is quite skilled in both Eventing and Hunters, and has even dabbled in Western. He is known for his sneaky refusals, and only listening to certain riders. Still a charm to ride, if he listens.

Wally

' OH Where's Waldo? '

Where do we start with Wally? Wally is a 19 year old, 17.3 hh, Friesian/Dutch Warmblood gelding. He is by far the silliest of all the lesson horses. He makes friends with anybody and everybody he crosses paths with. He isn't the most skilled, but can win a solid 5th in Eventing. He is the class clown of the barn, and can bring a smile to anybody who meets him.

' OH Sugar And Spice '

OH Sugar and Spice, also known as Cookie, is a sweet and reliable hunter horse. Over the years, Cookie has done just about everything, from Dressage to Hunters. Cookie excels at giving new riders a gentle introduction to horses while at the same time, he has plenty of go when asked. This makes him a versatile and dependable mount for riders of varying experience levels.

Cooper

' OH Thicc And Slick '

Cooper is the thickest of the lesson horses. Standing at 17 hh, this 15 year old, Irish Cob gelding is one of a kind. While he's not suited for the Eventing ring, he does quite well in the Hunter arena. He loves a good treat, but also knows when its his time to shine. He loves jumping, and enjoys the occasional western. If you get the chance to ride him, you better bring some treats.

Ozzy

' OH Houdini Hooves '

Ozzy is the official escape artist here at the OHEC. At only 13.3 hh tall, this Welsh Pony gelding is a force to be reckoned with. He is super spunky, and is known for his bucking habit. Ozzy does wonderful in the Hunter ring, and has lovely gaits. If you can get this horse to listen, and if you can bare with his shenanigans, this pony is one of a kind.

Benny

' OH The Lawn Mower '

Benny is truly just a chill guy. He is a 14 year old, 15.1 hh, Appaloosa gelding. He needs a lot of leg, but when you get him moving he is a fun ride. He's more suited for Hunter as he's a bit slow and lazy for anything else. He tries his best, but would rather take a nap. If you get the chance to ride this guy, you better be ready for the worst leg pain of your life, but a wonderful memory.

Remy

' OH Reims Gueux CW '

Remy is a 8 year old, 16 hh, KWPN mare. Remy can be opinionated and is not a beginner ride, but for an intermediate or more advanced rider, she’s a fun and rewarding partner. She thrives in consistent training and does well in the hunter and equitation rings, where her scope and athleticism really stand out. She’s naturally scopey, bold, and confident

Peaches

' OH Summer In Georgia '

Peaches is a 10 year old, 15.2 hh, Paint horse mare. She was originally started as a hunter, but has taken more interest in Show Jumping. She is looking for a rider to get her Eventing journey started. She is a bit of a spicy mare, but with a confident and firm rider she truly is a very talented horse. She is super girthy, and still needs some ground manner training. She is looking for a lease owner while she's in lessons.

Whiskey

' OH Straight No Chaser '

Whiskey is a funky ride. He is a 12 year old, 16.1 hh, Tennessee Walker/Thoroughbred gelding with a whole lot of personality. He isn't a crazy horse, just likes speed and enjoys jumping. He can go either way, Eventing or Hunters, as long as his rider knows how to handle him. He is a super fun guy, but just needs a little extra help to keep him on track.

Bee

' OH Buzz Baby '

Bee is 6 year old, 15.2 hh, Mustang mare. While she is a bit green and she has her quirks, she tries really hard and wants to learn. She is a bit speedy, and is probably going to be trained for eventing. She is highly intelligent and very trainable. She has a bold personality in the field, and is very sociable. She is still a bit finicky about certain people, but just needs time to warmup.

Lacey

' OH Little Miss Lacey '

Lacey is the sweetest of all the lesson horses. She may be a bit slow, and need some extra encouragement, but she really does care. She's not the most athletic, being a 16 year old, 14.3 hh, Halflinger mare, but she has a heart of gold. She is the perfect horse for a beginner rider looking for their first lease horse. She is a wonderful hunter horse, but a bit too slow for the eventing world.
